When it comes to custom cabinetry, the Selections Phase is where your vision truly starts to take shape. This phase is all about the details—those personal touches that will define the look, feel, and functionality of your space. Whether you’re dreaming of a modern kitchen, a timeless bathroom, or a cozy home office, the Selections Phase is where the magic happens.
What Will We Be Doing in the Selections Phase?
The purpose of the Selections Phase is to choose all the elements that create the style and look of your cabinetry. From the wood species to the countertop material, each choice contributes to the final product’s elegance and durability.
How Long Will the Selections Phase Take?
The timeline for the Selections Phase can vary depending on the number of spaces you’re working on and how quickly decisions are made. Some clients move through this phase quickly, while others take extra time to perfect their selections. And that’s okay! Remember, your manufacturing lead time does not begin until the Approval Phase is complete, so take the time you need to make the right choices.

What Do I Need to Select for My Cabinetry?
During this phase, you will select the following for each area:
● Wood species and finish colors
● Door/drawer style and hardware
● Door overlay options (inset, beaded inset, 1/2” or full overlay)
● Countertop material, edge, and color
● Sink size, style, and material
These elements work together to achieve the aesthetic and functionality you’re envisioning.
Will My Selections Impact the Project Timeline?
Not necessarily! Most of the materials are ordered specifically for your project, and we’ve built the required lead times into our schedule. Your Designer will keep you informed if any of your choices extend beyond the typical time frame so that you can plan accordingly.
Can I Get Samples to Help with My Choices?
Absolutely! We understand how important it is to see and feel materials before making a decision. Your Designer can provide you with color samples, and select countertop samples are available for sign-out from our Design Center. If you’d like, you can also purchase 5×7 color samples or full door samples to keep.
How Will This Affect My Manufacturing Lead Time?
This is an important part of the process. Your manufacturing lead time does not start until all designs and selections are complete, all questions are answered, the sales order and cabinet drawings are approved, and a down payment is made. Manufacturing lead times may vary based on demand, but rest assured—your Designer will keep you updated every step of the way.
What Comes Next?
Once you’re confident in your selections and satisfied with the overall pricing, you’ll move on to the Approval Phase. This next step is all aboutfinalizing your design, locking in your choices, and setting the stage for production.
